Samsung Hacked Again
Samsung confirmed that its network in America was compromised in July, and the attackers accessed personal information for their customers, such as names and birthdays, but not SSNs. This is the 2nd breach for the company this year, and Samsung encouraged customers to monitor their credit reports as a precaution.
Italian Oil Giant Compromised
The Italian oil giant Eni SpA confirmed its network was recently accessed by an unauthorized party. Indications are that it may have been a state-sponsored ransomware attack, but the company stated that it managed to contain the attack. However, some of its operations are still down and some GSE’s energy market functions are suspended.
49ers Ransomed
The NFL’s San Francisco 49ers were hit by a ransomware attack in February, which resulted in the unauthorized disclosure of personal information for nearly 21,000 people. The BlackByte ransomware group took credit for the attack and posted the information to their leak site. The team confirmed law enforcement is investigating the incident.
