AMD Extorted by RansomHouse
Having previously extorted Shoprite, RansomHouse claimed AMD as their most recent victim. The group says they were able to get their hands on over 450 gigabytes of AMD’s data because their employees use very weak security practices. AMD has not yet paid up and is investigating the incident.
Hack Halts Steel Production
Two large Iranian steel firms were the target of large-scale cyberattacks that temporality shut down one of their production lines. The hacktivist group, Predatory Sparrow, claimed responsibility for the attacks. These companies were sanctioned by the US for helping to fund the nefarious activities of the Iranian regime.
OpenSea Emails Alert
The largest NFT marketplace has warned its users that their email addresses have been shared with an unauthored 3rd party. This happened when an employee at the company’s email delivery vendor downloaded and shared these email addresses. Users should be on the lookout for spam and phishing emails purporting to be from OpenSea.
