Cyber Espionage at News Corp
News Corp, the company that owns the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and the Dow Jones, confirmed in an SEC filing that they were hit with a cyberattack in January. One of their cloud-based systems from a third-party provider was successfully targeted by a China based threat actor, potentially sponsored by that government. As such, it is believed that this attack was cyber espionage, according to Mandiant, the security company that investigated the breach.
Morley hit with Ransomware
Morley Companies, the company that provides business services for many Fortune 500 companies, recently confirmed that they were hit with a ransomware attack in August last year. Sensitive information for more than 500,000 people was leaked as a result, however, Morley took 6 months to confirm and report that clients’ personal information was breached.
DeFi and Blockchain Platforms Under Attack
Last week we shared that Qubit Finance was hacked a short while ago. Then Wormhole, a popular blockchain bridge, confirmed last week that hackers stole crypto-assets worth $324 million. Now blockchain infrastructure company Meter has reported that $4.4 million was stolen during a cyberattack on the platform a few days ago.
