A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
The Hackers got Hacked
The FBI was able to hack its way into Hive Ransomware’s network, as part of an international law enforcement operation. Since July last year, they were able to warn organizations that were being targeted and also provide decryption keys to past victims. The FBI has since seized the Hive’s payment and data leak sites, effectively shutting down the ransomware-as-a-service operation.
Zacks Breach
Late last year, Zacks Investment Research discovered their network had been breached for around 10 months. They are not sure if any data was stolen during this period, personal information for users was exposed to the threat actors but not any financial information.
Illinois Services Hacked
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois suffered a ransomware attack almost one year ago, but only recently reported the incident. Personal information, medical diagnoses, and treatments were stolen in the attack. It is estimated that more than 184 thousand people were affected by the attack.
