$10 Million Ransomware Attack on Hospital
A thousand-bed French hospital was hit with a ransomware attack last week. As the attack comprised most of the hospital’s I.T. systems, such as admissions and medical imaging, it was forced to reduce operations and transfer some patients to other facilities. Law enforcement is investigating the incident, as the threat actors have demanded a $10 ransom payment.
Genshin Impacts AV
The popular Action RPG Genshin Impact installs an anti-cheat system driver which can allow hackers to disable a victim’s antivirus software. The vendor has been notified about this vulnerability since 2020, but has not fixed it as hackers are now starting to take advantage of it. Security researchers advise administrators to block the hash of the vulnerable driver in their AV software to protect themselves.
Plex Hacked
Plex notified their customers that they noticed suspicious activity in one of their databases last week, where the threat actor had access to user data such as email addresses and passwords. Even though the information would have been encrypted, the company is requiring all users to change their passwords the next time they log in as a precaution.
