COB Systems Breach
The City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union in Barbados confirmed it suffered a systems breach that affected its entire network. The cyber attack led to the disruption of the financial institution’s branch services, online banking, POS and ATM transactions. COB assured customers that none of their information was compromised during the attack, and investigations into the incident are ongoing as their team continues to restore banking services.
Dole Ransomware
Dole Food Company was hit with a ransomware attack which forced the company to shut down its systems throughout North America. This disruption delayed food shipments to grocery stores which was noticed by shoppers over the last few days. Dole confirmed they contained the threat and are working with third-party cybersecurity experts to remediate the incident.
Hackers with 2 Years of Access
News Corp recently confirmed that investigations into the breach in 2022 revealed that hackers had access to its systems since 2020. The threat actors had access to business documents and emails, which included personal information. The threat actors were found to be Chinese state-sponsored, focused on collecting intelligence to benefit China’s interests.
