CyberSec Roundup
A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
Tesco hit with Cyber-Attack
Tesco’s website and mobile app were down last weekend, leaving many customers attempting to use their online services stranded. The company confirmed that they were the victim of a cyber-attack and their I.T. team is working to resolve the issue. At this time, Tesco does not believe that any customer data was compromised during the attack.
Gigabyte hacked again
Gigabyte Technology was hit with a ransomware attack in August by the RansomEXX group, and unfortunately were recently attacked again by the AvosLocker group. AvosLocker leaked many sensitive documents that they stole during the attack (such as non-disclosure agreements and customer credit card details) in an attempt to get Gigabyte Technology to negotiate with them. Gigabyte hasn’t confirmed the breach as yet.
Olympic Strength
According to the NTT Corporation, the Olympics networking infrastructure was under heavy assault during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo this year. Despite the number of attacks observed being 2.5 times more than those during the London Games in 2012, they successfully defended all of them. This was due to the hard work and training put in NTT’s cybersecurity team ahead of time and during the Olympics.
