A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
Hackers target Teams
Security researchers at Avanan have warned that since January, hackers are using compromised Microsoft Teams accounts to spread malware. These accounts, most likely compromised during phishing campaigns, are used to send trojans to others users within Teams, which will allow attackers to take control of their computers. Since Teams doesn’t have built in protection against malicious files, users need to be careful when opening files within the application.
LinkedIn phishing Scams
Cybersecurity firm Egress noticed an increase of 232% in phishing emails impersonating LinkedIn. Users of the popular platform need to be on the alert, as these emails look similar to the company’s actual emails, using the company’s logo and similar branding styles and colors. If the links in these emails are clicked, they will send unsuspecting users to a page that will attempt to steal their LinkedIn credentials.
