Microsoft Exchange Servers under assault from hackers
As various organizations lag in their efforts to patch their Exchange servers, the volume of attacks is increasing, as hackers attempt to take advantage of any organizations that may still be vulnerable. Microsoft has confirmed that a new type of ransomware called DearCry is being deployed on Exchange servers after they have been compromised. Organizations need to ensure these patches are applied immediately or disconnect their servers. They should also ensure they scan the servers and the network for any malware in case they were compromised.
Molson Coors Hacked
The Molson Coors brewing company suffered a cyberattack last week, which interrupted operations at their breweries. They are investigating the incident, which is believed to have been a ransomware attack, however, this has not been confirmed by the company as yet.
Pan American Life Hacked
The Pan-American Life Insurance Group reported that they suffered a major cybersecurity attack late in February. The company, which has a strong presence in Latin America and the Caribbean, reportedly noticed suspicious activity on their network and subsequently brought it down. A forensic investigation into the incident is ongoing, however, they disclosed that policyholder and beneficiary information was stolen from a small percentage of their customer base. While they have not disclosed the nature of the attack it is believed to be a ransomware attack by REvil operators, as there was a post on the dark web allegedly showing the files that were stolen.
