Black Basta disrupts Sobeys
The second-largest supermarket chain in Canada suffered a cyberattack that caused disruptions to its operations. While Sobeys has not disclosed details of the attack, Black Basta Ransomware appears to be responsible for the ransomware attack.
New Email Scam
There is a new extortion scam where emails are being sent in mass to website admins, telling them that they have been hacked. The threat actors are attempting to scare admins to pay a fee with Bitcoin to prevent this hack from being exposed. In truth, the scammers haven’t hacked anyone and are hoping some admins will blindly pay the fee, and it seems some have.
Russian IRIDIUM
Microsoft Security Threat Intelligence noticed a ransomware campaign being executed against transportation and logistics industries in Ukraine and Poland. The threat group has been identified as IRIDIUM, which has links to the Russian military. They targeting organizations in Eastern Europe that are providing support to Ukraine in the war.
