Volvo Hit with Ransomware Attack
Volvo Cars confirmed that the company was the victim of a ransomware attack. The stolen data seems to be from Research and Development, and no customer information was accessed. The Snatch ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack and published some of the documents online as proof.
ACSC Conti Warning
The Australian Cyber Security Centre is warning organizations to be on high alert as they have observed an increase in Conti ransomware attacks. Conti has targeted Australian organizations across many industries since November, including Australian electricity provider CS Energy. The ACSC published a document profiling Conti, which will help businesses to mitigate against future attacks.
Log4j Java Vulnerability
The new zero-day vulnerability in Java logging library Apache Log4j, tracked as CVE-2021-44228, is fairly easy to exploit, and allows attackers to gain full control of vulnerable servers. As the vulnerability is already being exploited in the wild, CISA has urged administrators to patch their servers with Log4j Version 2.15.0 to address this critical vulnerability.
