CyberSec Roundup
A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
US Government Contractor Breached
Acuity, a contractor that provides DevSecOps services to the U.S. Department of State, appeared to have recently suffered a cyber-attack. Investigations are underway as a threat actor claims to have stolen data from Acuity that contains the personal information of government, military, and Pentagon employees. The threat actor, IntelBroker, has leaked information supposedly stolen from various US government agencies this year.
Omni Hotels Outage
Omni Hotels confirmed that a nationwide IT outage last week was caused by a cyberattack. The outage severely affected operations as the reservations and point-of-sale systems were down. It appears to be a ransomware attack, but the company has not confirmed the nature of the breach or if information was stolen.
Panera Bread Outage
Panera Bread was in a similar position to Omni Hotels, as a week-long outage at the bakery-café fast food restaurants was likely caused by a ransomware attack. However, Panera has not confirmed the attack or the reason for the outage, as the company’s phones, point of sales systems, and website were down.
