Media Websites Under Attack
The Portuguese Expresso newspaper and SIC TV stations were both the victims of a ransomware attack last week. The Lapsus$ group has taken credit for the attack, defacing the hacked websites with their ransomware demands. The Jerusalem Post of Israel also suffered a similar attack as the hackers also defaced their website, however, no group has claimed credit for that attack.
Broward Health Data Breach
Florida’s Broward Health hospital system confirmed that they were the victim of a cyber attack in October. Personal and medical information of both staff and patients was compromised during the attack. The hospital is offering identity theft protection services for two years to the victims, as they are now very vulnerable to identity theft.
USB Warning
The FBI issued a warning that the FIN7 ATP group has been distributing malicious packages to various companies. The packages purport to come from the US Department of Health & Human Services and contain USB flash drives infected with ransomware. Businesses in various sectors in the US have received the packages and others are warned to be on the lookout for them.
