SonicWall Exploit Detected in the Wild
The NCC Group, an information assurance firm in the UK, has detected that the zero-day vulnerability disclosed by SonicWall is being used in the wild. The vulnerability affects SonicWall SMA 100 devices. NCC Group is working with SonicWall on this issue and SonicWall has released a patch for it.
Perl Domain Hijacked
Perl.com is a website that is used to post news and information about the Perl programming language. The editor of the website recently tweeted that the domain was stolen and is now registered to someone else. The new IP address that the site is linked to has been associated with malware campaigns. People are strongly advised not to visit the site until it has been returned to its rightful owner.
Fonix Ransomware Calls it Quits
The Fonix Ransomware group has decision to shutdown their operations. It is one of the smaller “ransomware as a service” operations but one of the admins recently tweeted that their team has decided to use their talents “In positive ways and help others.” While they have publicly released the decryption keys and deleted the source code, some members of the team want to continue to scam people for a living as they disagree with the decision to turn over a new leaf.
