Ransomware in Converters
The FBI confirmed that fake file converter tools are being used by cybercriminals to distribute ransomware. Threat actors are disguising malware as legitimate document and image conversion tools, tricking users into installing these harmful programs. There are also online converters that scrape uploaded documents for confidential and sensitive information. The public should only download software from trusted sources and never upload any documents that could contain sensitive information.
Arcane Infostealer
Kaspersky discovered a new variant of the Arcane infostealer that targets users on YouTube and Discord channels that promote downloading game cheats. The malware, disguised as a legitimate game mod, is engineered to steal sensitive information such as VPN and game client credentials. Security experts recommend avoiding unofficial cheat tools and using robust antivirus solutions just in case.
Oracle denies it was hacked
Oracle has strongly denied any data breach despite a hacker’s claim of stealing 6 million records which includes encrypted SSO credentials and keys. The hacker known as rose87168 is selling the alleged stolen information on the dark web has released proof that they compromised Oracle’s Cloud SSO platform. However, Oracle disputes this claim and states an internal investigation found no evidence of unauthorized access or data theft.
