49m Dell Customers Exposed
Dell suffered a cyberattack that led to information for 49 million customers being stolen. The threat actor known as Menelik took credit for the attack and posted the stolen information on the dark web, which included names and addresses of customers that purchased computers on Dell’s website over the past 7 years. Dell notified customers of the breach and confirmed that no financial information was exposed.
British Columbia’s Government Breached
The government of B.C. has disclosed that its network was recently compromised multiple times. The government is investigating the incidents with the help of the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security. The government doesn’t believe any information was accessed or stolen during the attack; however, this assertion may be premature as investigations into the attacks are still ongoing.
Ascension Healthcare Attacked
The largest private healthcare provider was victim to a ransomware attack last week that necessitated the shutdown of most of its systems. The impact was major, as business partners were warned to disconnect from Ascension’s systems and clinical operations have been disrupted, as ambulances are being diverted to other hospitals.
