Kodi Forum Breach
The account of an inactive forum admin was used by an unauthorized third party to make a backup of Kodi’s forum database. The stolen information, which includes all forum posts, encrypted passwords, email addresses, and other user data from over 4,000 accounts, is for sale on the dark web. The forum is currently down as the company investigates the incident and develops strategies to better manage accounts.
BlackCat Ransoms NCR
NCR’s Aloha point-of-sale platform suffered an outage after being hit by a ransomware attack. The company contacted law enforcement and employed the services of cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident that BlackCat Ransomware took credit for. The attack severely affected the operations of businesses in the hospitality sector that rely on the application for payment processing.
Yum Hacked
The brand owner of the Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC restaurant chains disclosed that they were the victims of a ransomware attack in January. The incident resulted in the temporary closure of around 300 restaurants, and some employees’ personal information was stolen, but no information of customers was compromised. The company is providing free credit and identity monitoring services to those affected.
