Guyanese Ministry Website Hacked
The Ministry of Natural Resources in Guyana had its Petroleum Management Programme website compromised last week. The hackers, who go by the name TeamHDP, took control of the website and posted an article about Guayana Esequiba, a disputed territory controlled by Guyana but claimed by Venezuela. The website was taken down after the incident.
MSI Ransomware Attack
Micro-Star International disclosed that its systems were attacked by hackers last week, but the attack did not significantly disrupt its operations. MSI did not release details of the attack, but the Money Message ransomware group took credit for the attack and has demanded a $4 million ransom not to release the stolen information.
Cyber Attack on Big NY Law Firm
New York’s oldest law firm suffered a cyberattack last week. Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft disclosed that the personal information of over 90,000 clients was exposed during the incident. While there is no indication that this information has been used for nefarious purposes, the company will offer free identity theft protection services for its clients.
