A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
Major Rackspace Exchange Online Outage
Rackspace’s hosted Exchange environments were recently compromised by a cyber-attack. The company proactively shut down the environment to contain the issue, which resulted in Exchange Online customers not being able to send or receive email. The company has not provided further details on the incident but is offering free upgrades from Exchange Online to Microsoft 365, so customers can resume mail flow in the interim.
LastPass Incident
LastPass confirmed that they detected suspicious activity within a third-party cloud storage service, which is also shared with its affiliate GoTo. While the company works to understand the full scope of the incident, they can confirm the threat actor was able to gain access to certain elements of customers’ information, but not any passwords. This is the company’s second breach of the year.
Keralty Ransomware Attack
The Colombian healthcare provider suffered a ransomware attack last week, disrupting its health systems, operations and websites. Law enforcement has been notified and a criminal investigation is underway as the RansomHouse group appears to be responsible for the attack.
