Microsoft Exposes Business Customers’ Data
Microsoft confirmed that a database misconfiguration led to the exposure of sensitive customer data. The 2.4 terabytes of data were primarily comprised of transactions between Microsoft and prospective customers worldwide, between 2017 and 2022. Microsoft fixed the problem and notified the affected customers, as the leaked information contains company names, emails and phone numbers.
UK Dealer Ransomed
The car dealer group Pendragon was hit with a ransomware attack by Lockbit. The ransomware group demanded a ransom of $60 million in bitcoin, or else the stolen information will be leaked online. Pendragon confirmed that they were in contact with the hackers, but have no intention of paying the ransom, and have notified law enforcement.
BWA Hard Drive Theft
The Barbados Water Authority sought the assistance of law enforcement to help recover a hard drive that was stolen from their offices. The hard drive contains sensitive data about company assets and the national water resources infrastructure. If the information on the drive was not appropriately encrypted, it could be a serious data leak for the organization.
