TikTok Hacked?
A hacking group called AgainstTheWest claimed they hacked a vulnerable TikTok server and stole 790 GB of data, including user information and source code. After the “stolen” information was posted TikTok, other cybersecurity professionals confirmed that this information was not obtained from hacking TikTok’s servers, but it is a collection of publicly accessible data the hacker managed to collate.
IHG Hacked
InterContinental Hotels Group, which includes brands such as Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn, was hit cyberattack. The company confirmed that their booking channels and other applications were significantly disrupted as a result. IHG has retained external cybersecurity professionals to investigate the incident.
2nd Largest US School District Ransomed
Los Angeles Unified confirmed they were hit with a ransomware attack that disrupted their I.T. systems. More than 640,000 students were affected by the incident, however the schools were able to stay open despite systems such as email being offline. LAUSD is getting assistance from local and federal law enforcement agencies on the incident.
