CyberSec Roundup
A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
$200 Million Crypto Hack
The blockchain bridge Nomad was hit with a cyberattack last week, to the tune of $200 million. These bridges are more vulnerable to attacks and have been targeted accordingly by hackers of late. However, this flaw was easy to exploit, and other users were able to take advantage of the exploit and steal funds from Nomad. The company has recovered $20 million so far since their plea for the funds to be returned.
Solana Wallets Targeted
Over 8,000 of the internet-connected digital wallets lost over 5.2 million in cryptocurrency in a cyberattack last week. The nature of the attack is still being investigated, but it is linked to a flaw in the wallet software. The attackers have not been identified.
NHS Emergency Services Outage
The UK’s National Health Service 111 emergency services were hit by a major outage, triggered by a cyberattack on their Adastra client patient management solution. The system is provided by their managed service provider Advanced, who confirmed the incident, but not if it was a ransomware attack (as suspected).
