Slilpp Marketplace shutdown
A cyber operation which involved a joint law enforcement effort from the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, and Romania has resulted in the closure of the SLilpp marketplace. It was known as the largest online marketplace for stolen login credentials since 2012. Slilpp had online account login credentials belonging to hundreds of companies worldwide, offering for sale more than 80 million compromised usernames and passwords. Over a dozen people connected with the site have been charged or arrested.
EA Hacked
Electronic Arts was hacked last week, and those responsible claim to have made off with a treasure trove of information. They are selling 780 GB of data, which includes source code for games, debugging tools, and full capability to exploit EA’s services. EA is cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate the incident, however, they can confirm that no player information was accessed as part of the hack.
Volkswagen Leak
Volkswagen Group of America suffered a data breach as a result of a vendor who left unsecured electronic files exposed online. The files contained customer information from between 2014- and the breach is believed to have affected around 3.3 million customers. VW confirmed that very few records had personal information like social security numbers or dates of birth, and most of the customer information records only contained telephone numbers and email addresses.
