A synopsis of the Latest Cybersecurity News
JBS hit by REvil
JBS confirmed that they were the victim of an organized cybersecurity attack last week. JBS was forced to shut much of their network which required them to suspend production for a few days. The FBI confirmed that the attack was carried out by REvil ransomware operators, which encrypted many of their systems. JBS was able to get back online sooner than expected since their backup servers were not affected by the attack.
FujiFilm hit by Ransomware
The FujiFilm corporation confirmed that their headquarters was hit with a ransomware attack. They have shut down some of their network as they investigate the incident, which could potentially have been executed by a REvil operator.
Cyber Terror
Given the massive impact ransomware attacks have had on businesses and governments worldwide, the FBI and DOJ are looking to treat cyberattacks with a similar level of seriousness as terrorist attacks. They are urging business leaders to adopt a more risk-informed cybersecurity posture, as they expect this current wave of ransomware attacks to continue.
